Information Communication Technology

Welcome to Aberdare Girls’ School ICT Department. We have nine fully equipped suites of networked PCs in the school to ensure that all academic and extra-curricular needs of students are catered for. We currently utilise Macromedia, Adobe and Microsoft Office software packages allowing web design, graphics work and animation skills to be developed by the pupils as well as more traditional ICT skills.

Pupils are taught how to use the very latest pieces of software and use these to produce high quality pieces of work, at all levels of schooling.

The safe use of technology is a major focus and pupils are taught the areas where issues could occur and what precautions can be taken in order to maintain their safety on the school's network, internet access and also at home.

ICT across the Curriculum

ICT at Aberdare Girls’ School extends far beyond the ICT Department. All departments are able to book their lessons into the labs when there are no timetabled ICT lessons. These sessions help students with research and in improving the presentation of their work for a variety of subjects, providing extra possibilities for research, planning and preparing of tasks.

Each pupil at Aberdare Girls’ School develops an ePortfolio of cross curricular ICT work called MySchoolSpace.
