History

History is available in all Key Stages (Years 7-13).  At Key Stage 3, the focus is on the development of skills such as interpretation, evidential skills and the understanding of cause and effect.  There is a significant emphasis placed on local history and the history of Wales.

At Key Stage 4, History is a popular choice with a Welsh Joint Education course being followed which involves looking at 20th Century American history and the history of Germany between the two World Wars.

At Key  Stage 5, History is a very popular option.  The school works within the Cynon Valley Consortium with courses on 20th Century European History and Modern British History being studied.
