GeographyGCSE OutlineWhy Study Geography? Geography is an extremely relevant, up-to-date subject since it involves the study of most of the major problems which affect our planet today and looks at ways of solving these problems to produce a better world in future. It is the "green" subject in the sense that much emphasis is placed on caring for our environment. Issues studied in the course include world population and food supply, ways of providing help for lesser developed countries, the cutting down of rain forrests, pollution of air and water, and the problem of global warming. The course involves the study of a variety of sources including maps, graphs, photos, newspaper and magazine articles, cartoons, computer programs, weather maps and satellite photos. There are opportunities for studying the environment out-of-doors by using "field work" methods. Course Content 1. Physical and Environmental Geography
