![]() French is spoken in 42 countries across the world and is the 2nd language of millions. It is the language of choice for international business, law and finance and is used by most international institutions like the United Nations and the European Union. French is also the language of tourism and leisure. It is invaluable for holidays to France, Belgium, Luxembourg, Switzerland, Andorra, Monaco, North Africa, the Caribbean and the Indian Ocean. You never know where the future will take you! Language graduates are in demand. The unemployment rate among French graduates is one of the lowest and on average graduates who speak a foreign language earn £3000 more per year. Those with a qualification in French can look forward to better job opportunities in leisure, tourism, marketing, the media, teaching, administration and secretarial work, translation, journalism and the armed forces. French is taught by specialist teachers throughout the school. All pupils study French at Key Stage 3 and have the option to continue with the subject to GCSE. At GCSE pupils can sit either the Foundation or Higher Tier examination, depending on their performance and potential.
