What is the aim of the Building the Future Together project?

The aim of the Building the Future Together project is to address young people’s barriers to learning by empowering them to make a successful transition into employment and/or higher education through raising their skills levels and aspirations.

How are we meeting this aim?

Through the support of a Key Worker, Youth coach and Language and Number Development team employed in  secondary schools, and street-based detached youth workers across Rhondda Cynon Taf, the project seeks early identification of young people who may be at risk of underachieving.

What do we do?

We offer a broad range of opportunities and interventions to support targeted young people, including:

A Key worker team, deployed to identify young people that are struggling at school and to work with them to design individual development plans to improve their learning, educational achievement and life skills

A Youth Coach team deployed to provide one to one and group support to young people, to enable better access to learning, to maintain their involvement and to achieve progression through the education system and into work

A Literacy and Numeracy Development team provide group and individual support to targeted pupils using Essential Skills Intervention Programmes

A Detached youth work team deployed on the streets of RCT to identify and engage some of our most vulnerable young people and to signpost and support them to access BTFT project activity and other mainstream services
