Transition

The whole process of transition, moving from a primary school to secondary school, can be an anxious one for students and parents.  The aim of our transition programme is to ensure all students settle quickly and happily into Aberdare Girls' School.

To ensure the transition from primary school to Aberdare Girls' School is made as smoothly as possible, we have a programme of liaison involving our staff, partner schools, students, parents and support agencies.  In the Autumn Term before entry, we hold an Open Evening for prospective students and parents, in order for them to see the school at work.  The Headteacher and Head of Lower School then visit our feeder primary schools to meet with new entrants.

In the Summer term we hold a three day induction programme when Year 6 students participate in lessons and activities across the curriculum.  We also hold an Information Evening, each July, for students and parents joining us in Year 7.
