Welcome From the Head
Dear Parents,Welcome to Aberdare Girls' School, a caring community and a school which accepts nothing less than the best from all who are associated with us.
We hope that by reading this prospectus you will learn about some of our achievements, appreciate our values and expectations and understand the extent to which we care for our pupils and value and celebrate their achievements.
Our purpose is to help each girl realise her potential and to develop in each one habits of self-discipline, a sense of responsibility, and attitudes of tolerance, co-operation, courtesy and respect for others.
The girls in our care are taught in an orderly environment where the emphasis is on learning. Visitors to the school often comment on the calm, industrious and purposeful atmosphere which prevails. Our examination results at all levels provide evidence of commendable achievements, and our girls have gained entry into a variety of further and higher education establishments, including Oxford and Cambridge Universities. We give equal attention to other important aspects of pupil development, including extra-curricular activities, sporting activities, theatre and music, and community links. In a developing European scene we are actively forging links with young people in other countries.
The school enjoys a high level of parental interest and support and I consider this to be a vitally important element in ensuringthat each girl realises her full potential in life. We place considerable emphasis on the partnership between parents and the school and see it as a foundation for helping pupils to make the most of their many and varied talents. Our school motto 'Oni Heuir Ni Fedir','Unless you sow, you shall not reap', provides a message for all who enter into this partnership.
I hope that you will find this prospectus a useful document and that the information contained in it will enable you to decide on whether this is the school in which you wish your daughter to be educated.
At Aberdare Girls' School you and your daughter would become part of an extended community and network dedicated to providing all its young people with the best opportunities in life. We expect our girls to leave school as responsible citizens ready to succeed in a rapidly changing society. Selfdiscipline and enthusiastic participation will build confidence and we know that acceptance of our ideals and principles, which is implied by entering the school, is a choice that pupils and parents are glad to have made.
We look forward to a long and successful partnership with you.
